Trello - Project Management
Throughout the project, we have used Trello to help plan out what we were going to do, and what order it was going to be done in. It allowed us to gather ideas and go through what we needed in order of urgency, as well as hand out these jobs to the people within the group.
Towards the later part of the project, we used Trello less frequently, as we had less that needed to be done and it was more continuing work on the parts we were working on.
All in all I believe that Trello was very useful in the earlier stages of the project and it allowed for us organize what we needed to do and get past the beginning stage of development where a lot of things needed to be done and handed out to the group. It let everyone in the group know what was done, being done and what still needed doing, which was especially useful for tasks which multiple people could be doing.
Trello would probably be far more useful in a team that isn't constantly in direct vicinity of each other. In our case, it was far more convenient to just talk to each other about what we needed doing and sort out what people were working on that way, but I can see how it could be useful for a team that has to work across counties, countries and time-zones, as well as a team who's schedule doesn't always line up to allow them to communicate with each other every day.
Trello has many positives and negatives. It is very good for making a simple plan and listing down what needs to be done within a project. It can help to delegate tasks to group members and let everyone know what tasks are being worked on. It has good customizability, so it can be used in whatever way a team needs. It can also be used to give more detailed descriptions of tasks, as there is a description and comment tab on each task.
There are downsides to Trello as well. It can sometimes be more effort to use than worth for the time it uses. It requires constant management and one person forgetting to update it properly could end up in multiple people working on the same task - something that is far less likely to happen with spoken communication. It also has limitations to what it can do, and it is easy to miss the detailed descriptions, as they aren't immediately visible when looking at the board.
